Question
Out of his total income, Amit spent 30% on food, 50% of the remaining income on rent, and saved the remaining income which amounts to Rs. 14,000. Rohit's income is 25% more than that of Amit. Find the income of Rohit.
Solution
Let the income of Amit = Rs. '100x' Amount left after spending on food = 100x - 100x X 0.30 = Rs. '70x' Amount left after spending on rent = 70x - 70x X 0.50 = Rs. '35x' So, 35x = 14000 Or, x = 14000 Γ· 35 = 400 So, income of Amit = 400 X 100 = Rs. 40,000 Income of Rohit = 40000 X 1.25 = Rs. 50,000
