C Rs. 2,470 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D Rs. 3,000 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E None of these Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    ATQ, Let the income be Rs. 100n Amount spent on rent = 30% of 100n = Rs. 30n Remaining income = 100n − 30n = Rs. 70n Amount spent on groceries = 20% of 70n = Rs. 14n Remaining income = 70n − 14n = Rs. 56n Amount spent on education = 25% of 56n = Rs. 14n Remaining income = 56n − 14n = Rs. 42n Amount spent on other expenses = (1/7) of 42n = Rs. 6n So, savings = 42n − 6n = 36n Given savings = 10,800 So, 36n = 10,800 Or, n = 300 Therefore, amount spent on education = 14n = 14 × 300 = Rs. 4,200
