Question
Income of Arjun is 70% more than that of Tarun. Arjun saves
50% of his income, Tarun saves 30%. If their expenditure difference is Rs. 1050, what are Arjun’s savings?Solution
ATQ,
Let Tarun’s income be Rs. 100n
Arjun’s income = 1.7 × 100n = Rs. 170n
Expenditure of Arjun = 0.5 × 170n = Rs. 85n
Expenditure of Tarun = 0.7 × 100n = Rs. 70n
So, 85n - 70n = 1050
Or, 15n = 1050
Or, n = 70
Savings of Arjun = 170n - 85n = 85n = 85 × 70 = Rs. 5,950
