Question
In a college, 70% of the students opted for cultural
activities. Among those, 50% participated in music events and the remaining 105 students took part in dance events. Calculate how many students did not opt for cultural activities.Solution
ATQ,
Let the total number of students in the college be 100x.
So, number of students who opted for cultural activities = 100x × 0.7 = 70x
Number of students who did not opt for cultural activities = 100x - 70x = 30x
Number of students who took part in dance events = 70x × 0.5 = 35x
So, 35x = 105
So, x = 3
So, number of students who did not opt for cultural activities = 30x = 30 × 3 = 90
