    failed by 186 marks. But if he scores 54% marks then he is passed by 246 marks. Find the passing percentage. Let the maximum marks be x.

    Solution

    According to the question x × 27/100 + 186 = x × 54/100 - 246 27x/100 = 432 x = 1600  Passing Marks = 1600 × 27/100+ 186 =618 Passing % = 618/1600 ×100 = 38.7%
