    A spent 20% and 30% of his monthly salary on food and

    rent, respectively. Of the remaining amount, he gave 15% and 20% to his mother and brother, respectively. Find the amount spent by him on food, if the difference between the amount received by his brother and the amount spent on rent is Rs. 2880.

    Let the monthly salary of A be Rs. ‘x’ Amount spent on food = Rs. 0.20x Amount spent on rent = Rs. 0.30x Amount received by brother = (x – 0.30x – 0.20x) × 0.20 = 0.10x So according to question: => 0.30x – 0.10x = 2880 => 0.20x = 2880 => x = 14400 So, the amount spent on food = 0.20 × 14400 = Rs. 2880
