Question
In a school, 60% of the students pass and 30 fail. The
number of students appearing from another school is 25 more and 20 more students pass than the former school. The pass percentage of the latter school is.Solution
Let number of students in first school = x ⇒(60 x)/100 + 30 = x  ⇒x – (60 x)/100 = 30  ⇒ (40 x)/100 = 30⇒ x = 75  ∴ Number of passed students = 75 -30 = 45 Number of students in second school = 75 + 25 = 100 Number of passed students = 45 + 20 = 65 ∴ Pass percentage of the latter school = 65%
