Question
Out of his monthly income of Rs. 40000, Mohan spent Rs.
10000 less than he saved. What percentage of his income did he spend?Solution
ATQ,
Let the amount saved by Mohan = Rs. Y
Then, amount spent by Mohan = Rs. (Y - 10000)
We have, Y + Y - 10000 = 40000
Or, Y = (40000 + 10000) ÷ 2 = Rs. 25000
So, amount spent by Mohan = 25000 - 10000 = Rs. 15000
Required percentage = (15000 / 40000) × 100 = 37.5%
