      Question

Quantity of water in a 420 litres mixture (Milk + Water)

is 20 litres less than the quantity of milk in it. Find the quantity of water to be mixed so that the quantity of milk in the mixture becomes 50% of the whole mixture.
A 10 litres Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 15 litres Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 20 litres Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 25 litres Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

      Solution

      Quantity of water in the mixture = {(420 - 20)/2} = 200 litres

      So, quantity of milk in the mixture = (420 - 200) = 220 litres

Total quantity of the mixture if quantity of milk in the mixture becomes 50% = 220 × (100/50) = 440

So, quantity of water needs to be mixed = (440 - 420) = 20 litres
