      Question

Three mixtures, containing mixture of sugar to water in

the ratio of 6:3, 8:4 and 10:5 are mixed in equal proportion and a new mixture is formed. If the volume of mixture thus formed is 324 litres, then find the quantity of sugar in the resulting mixture.
A 216 lit Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 243 lit Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 108 lit Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 162 lit Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E None of these Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

      Solution

Let the volume of each mixture taken out be 36 litres

Ratio of sugar to water in the resulting mixture =
      (6/9 Γ— 36 + 8/12 Γ— 36 + 10/15 Γ— 36):(3/9 Γ— 36 + 4/12 Γ— 36 + 5/15 Γ— 36) = (24 + 24 + 24):(12 + 12 + 12) = 72:36 = 2:1

      Desired volume of sugar = 2/3 Γ— 324 = 216 litres
