Question
In a mixture, the quantity of salt is 40% of the
quantity of water. On removing 90 litres mixture and adding 20 litres each of salt and water, the quantity of salt becomes 30 litres less than that of water in the final mixture. Find the final quantity of water.Solution
ATQ, After removal of 90 litres of mixture, Let the initial quantity of water be '100b' litres. Initial quantity of salt = 0.4 × 100b = '40b' litres. ATQ, 100b - 40b = 30 Or, 60b = 30 Or, 'b' = 30/60 = 0.5 Therefore, final quantity of water = 100b + 20 = 100 × 0.5 + 20 = 50 + 20 = 70 litres
