Question
A mixture containing milk and water in the ratio of
43:55. If 36 litres of water are taken out from the mixture, then the quantity of milk and water becomes equal. Find the initial quantity of the mixture.Solution
Let the quantity of milk and water be 43x and 55x respectively. According to the question, => 43x/(55x – 36) = 1/1 => 43x = 55x – 36 => 12x = 36 => x = 3 Initial quantity of the mixture = 43x + 55x = 98x = 294 litres
