A mixture contains milk and water in the ratio of 3:2
respectively. If 36 litres of milk and 36 litres of water are added to this mixture, then respective ratio of milk and water changes to 10:7, respectively. Find the initial quantity of the mixture. MTSolution
Let, amount of milk and water in mixture be 3x litres and 2x litres respectively. According to question, ⇒ (3x + 36): (2x + 36) = 10:7 ⇒ 21x + 360 = 20x + 252 ⇒ 21x – 20x = 360 – 252 ⇒ x = 108 So, initial quantity of mixture = 108 × (2 + 3) = 540 litres
