    A 375 litres Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    B 360 litres Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    C 286 litres Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    D 240 litres Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    E None of these Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    Let the initial quantities of milk and water in the vessel be 5x litres and 4x litres respectively.
    90 litres mixture contains 50 litres milk and 40 litres water.
    According to question:
    5x – 50 = 4x – 40 + 30
    x = 40
    So the initial quantity of mixture = 9 × 40 = 360 litres
