Question
A rectangular garden is 30 m long and 24 m wide. A path of uniform width 2 m is built inside along the boundary of the garden. Find the area of the path.
Solution
Outer rectangle dimensions: 30 × 24 → area = 720 m² Inner rectangle (after 2 m path on all sides): Length = 30 − 4 = 26 m Width = 24 − 4 = 20 m Inner area = 26 × 20 = 520 m² Area of path = outer area − inner area = 720 − 520 = 200 m² Answer: 200 m².
