path of width 14 metres surrounds the field. Find the cost of cementing the path at the rate of Rs. 5 per square metre.Solution
Outer radius = 7 + 14 = 21 metres Area of outer circle = π × 21²
= (22/7) × 441
= 1386 m² Area of inner circle = π × 7²
= (22/7) × 49
= 154 m² Area of the path = 1386 − 154
= 1232 m² Therefore, cost of cementing the path = 1232 × 5
= Rs. 6160
