Question
A circular garden has an inner radius of 21 metres. A
path of width 14 metres surrounds the garden. Find the cost of paving the path at the rate of Rs. 4 per square metre.Solution
Outer radius = 21 + 14 = 35 metres Area of outer circle = π × 35²
= (22/7) × 1225
= 3850 m² Area of inner circle = π × 21²
= (22/7) × 441
= 1386 m² Area of the path = 3850 − 1386
= 2464 m² Therefore, cost of paving the path = 2464 × 4
= Rs. 9856
