Question
A path of width 2.5 m is made outside and around a
rectangular field of perimeter 300 m. If the length of the field is 20% more than its breadth, then find the cost of paving the path at Rs. 20 per mΒ².Solution
ATQ, Let, breadth of the field be βxβ m. So, the length of the field = β1.2xβ m. Therefore, 2 Γ (x + 1.2x) = 300 2.4x = 150 x = 62.5 Therefore, the breadth of the field = x = 62.5 metres. Length of the field = 1.2x = 75 metres. So, the area of the path = (80 Γ 67.5) β (62.5 Γ 75) = 5400 β 4687.5 = 712.5 mΒ². Required cost = 712.5 Γ 20 = Rs. 14250.
