Question
Length and breadth of a rectangle are in the ratio 3:8. If the perimeter of the rectangle is 70 cm more than the breadth of the rectangle, then find the area (in cm2) of the rectangle.
Solution
Let the length and breadth of the rectangle be '3x' cm and '8x' cm, respectively. ATQ; 2 Γ (3x + 8x) = 70 + 8x Or, 16x = 70 + 8x Or, 14x = 70 So, x = 5 So, required area = 3x Γ 8x = 24 Γ 52 = 600 cm2
