Question
Riya, Meena, and Priya spend 30%, 24%, and 32% of their
income on hobbies respectively. Riya and Meena earn the same amount, and the difference between their hobby expenses is Rs. 480. Priya spends Rs. 1240 less on hobbies compared to the total amount spent by Riya and Meena together. What is the income of Priya?Solution
ATQ,
Let the income of Riya, Meena, and Priya be Rs. x, Rs. x, and Rs. y respectively.
ATQ,
x × 30% − x × 24% = 480
x × 6% = 480
x = 8000
So, income of Riya and Meena is Rs. 8000 each.
Amount spent by Riya on hobbies = 30% of 8000 = Rs. 2400
Amount spent by Meena on hobbies = 24% of 8000 = Rs. 1920
Amount spent by Priya on hobbies = (2400 + 1920) − 1240 = Rs. 3080
So, income of Priya = (3080 ÷ 32) × 100 = Rs. 9625
