    Let the monthly salary be Rs. '100x'. Amount spent on transportation = 100 X 0.2 = Rs. '20x'  Amount spent on food = 100 X 0.4 = Rs. '40x'  Amount spent on fuel = (100x - 20x - 40x) X 0.1 = Rs. '4x'  So, savings = 100x - 20x - 40x - 5x = Rs. '36x' ATQ, 36x = 18,000  So, 'x' = 500  So, required monthly salary will be  = Rs.100x = Rs. (100 X 500) = Rs.50,000
