      Question

The least common multiple (LCM) of two numbers is 22

times their highest common factor (HCF). One of the numbers is 132, and the sum of the HCF and LCM is 276. Determine the other number.
A 36 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 12 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 24 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 30 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

      Solution

      Let the HCF of the two numbers be ‘x’ So, LCM of the two numbers = 22x ATQ; 22x + x = 276 Or, 23x = 276 So, x = 12 So, HCF of the two numbers = 12 And LCM of the two numbers = 12 × 22 = 264 So, the other number = 12 × 264 ÷ 132 = 24
