Question
The ratio of speed of the boat and the speed of the
current is 6:5. If the downstream speed of the boat is 44 km/hr. Then find how much distance will the boat travel in 16 hrs in upstream?Solution
Let the speed of boat (v) and speed of current (u) be 6x km/hr. and 5x km/hr. respectively. Now, (6+5) 11 ≡ 44 1 ≡ 4 So, v = 24km/hr. u = 20 km/hr. Distance travelled by boat = 16 × (24 – 20) = 64 km
