Question
The average number of mangoes distributed among five farmers is 12. If each farmer received 1 mango more than the farmer before him, then find the highest number of mangoes received by any farmer.
Solution
Let the mangoes received by 1st farmer be βxβ
According to the question,
(x + x + 1 + x + 2 + x + 3 + x + 4) = 12 Γ 5
Or, 5x + 10 = 60
Or, 5x = 50
Or, x = 10
Therefore, highest number of mangoes received by any farmer = (x + 4) = 14
