Question
The average number of apples distributed among five
farmers is 11. If each farmer received 1 apple more than the previous one, then find the highest number of apples received by any farmer.Solution
Let the apples received by 1st farmer be ‘x’
According to the question,
(x + x + 1 + x + 2 + x + 3 + x + 4) = 11 × 5
Or, 5x + 10 = 55
Or, 5x = 45
Or, x = 9
Therefore, highest number of apples received by any farmer = (x + 4) = 13
