    food and women eat on an average 45kg of food. The men and women are equal in number. A woman joined the family for dinner and the average consumption became 60. How much did woman eat (in kgs)?

    Solution

    As men and women are equal so , there are 5 women and 5 men so, total consumption will be 70 × 5 = 350 (by men) and 45 × 5 = 225 (by women)
    Total consumption = 575 kg
    But after including a woman the average consumption for 11 people is given to be 60.
    So the total consumption will be 60 × 11 = 660 kg
    So, woman’s consumption will be = 660 – 575 = 85 kg
