Question
The average salary of 36 employees (
Teachers+principals) in a School is Rs.10,375. A Principal in the School receives a salary that is 125% higher than that of a Teacher. Given that the number of Principals in the School is 40% more than the number of Teachers calculate the total salary of all the Teachers in the School.Solution
We can say that Let the number of Teachers in the School be ‘t’. So, the number of Principal in the School = 1.4t = 36 – t 2.4t = 36 t = 15 So, there are 15 Teachers and 21 Principal in the School Let the salary of a Teachers in the School be Rs. ‘s’. So, the salary of an Principal in the Scchool = Rs.2.25s According to question: 15s + 2.25s × 21 = 36 × 10375 15s + 47.25s = 373500 62.25s = 373500 s = 6000 So the salary of all the Teachers in the School together = 15 × 6000 = Rs.90,000
