Two years ago from now, the ages of 'A' and 'B' were in

the ratio 5:4, respectively. Eight years ago from now, the ages of 'A' and 'B' were in the ratio 2:1. Present age of 'A' is how much percent more than that of 'B'?
A 15% Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 25% Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 20% Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 30% Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E 10% Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    Let the ages of 'A' and 'B', 8 years ago from now was, '2x' years and 'x' years, respectively. ATQ; {(2x + 6)/(x + 6)} = (5/4) Or, 4 X (2x + 6) = 5 X (x + 6) Or, 8x + 24 = 5x + 30 Or, 3x = 6 So, x = 2 So, present age of 'A' = 2 X 2 + 8 = 12 years And present age of 'B' = 2 + 8 = 10 years So, required percentage = {(12 - 10)/10} X 100 = 20%
