Present age of P = β19x β 8β years Present age of Q = β14x β 8β years Present age of R = 52 Γ 3 β (19x β 8 + 14x β 8) = β156 β 33xβ years According to the question: 1.25 Γ (19x β 8 β 5) = 156 β 33x Or, 1.25 Γ (19x β 13) = 156 β 33x Or, 23.75x β 16.25 = 156 β 33x Or, 56.75x = 172.25 Or, x = 3 Present age of Q = 14 Γ 3 β 8 = 34 years Present age of R = 156 β 33 Γ 3 = 57 years Desired Ratio = 34:57 = 2:3
