Question
The current ages of R, S, and T are in the ratio 2:3:6. The
difference between the ages of R and T is 40 years. After ‘m’ years, age of S will be 50% more than R’s age. Find the value of ‘m’.Solution
ATQ,
Let present ages of R, S and T be 2x, 3x and 6x years respectively.
ATQ,
6x - 2x = 40
=> x = 10
Present age of R = 2x = 2 × 10 = 20 years
Present age of S = 3x = 3 × 10 = 30 years
ATQ,
(20 + m) × 1.5 = (30 + m)
30 + 1.5m = 30 + m
=> 1.5m - m = 0
=> 0.5m = 0
=> m = 0
