Let present ages be:
Neha = p
Ritu = q
(p + 2) + (q + 2) = 46
⇒ p + q = 42 ——— (i)
p - 9 = q - 9 - 7
⇒ p = q - 7 ——— (ii)
(q - 7) + q = 42
2q = 49
q = 24.5
Ritu's age in 5 years = 24.5 + 5 = 29.5 years
