Question

    A person 'P' is 4 years younger than 'Q' and also 10

    years less than twice the age of 'R'. Given that the ages of 'Q' and 'R' are in the ratio 5:2, determine the current age of 'P'.
    A 17 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    B 15 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    C 14 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    D 26 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    E None of these Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    ATQ;
    Let 'Q' = 5x, and 'R' = 2x
    'P' = 'Q' – 4 = 5x – 4
    Also, 'P' = 2('R') – 10 = 2(2x) – 10 = 4x – 10
    Hence, 5x – 4 = 4x – 10
    x = 6
    'P' = 5(6) – 4 = 30 – 4 = 26
