Question
Three years ago, 'B' was twice as old as 'A'. In three more years, 'B' will be 60% older than 'A'. What is 'A's current age?
Solution
Let the age of 'A', three years ago from now be '2x' years. So, age of 'B', 3 years ago from now = 2x X 2 = '4x' years ATQ; (2x + 6) X 1.6 = 4x + 6 Or, 3.2x + 9.6 = 4x + 6 Or, 3.6 = 0.8x So, x = 4.5 So, present age of 'A' = 2 X 4.5 + 3 = 12 years
