According to Section 51(1) of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, if any person is found guilty of an offence relating to animals listed in Schedule I or Part II of Schedule II, the punishment includes: • Imprisonment for a term not less than 3 years, which may extend up to 7 years, and • A fine not less than ₹10,000. This stringent penalty reflects the high protection accorded to Schedule I species.
