Section 9 of the Limitation Act, 1963 provides that once time has begun to run, in respect of a right to sue or apply:

Section 9 embodies the rule that TIME ONCE BEGUN TO RUN DOES NOT STOP: the running of time against the holder of a right is not interrupted by his disability (such as minority, insanity or absence) after the limitation has begun to run, except in the cases expressly provided (e.g., where a person is a minor or insane at the date the right accrues, Sections 6-8 give a fresh period). The section complements the commencement rules in Sections 12-18. A subsequent disability after time has started does not re-set the clock. This keeps limitation calculations predictable.
