Section 304 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 defines snatching as the seizure or sudden taking of movable property from the person or from the vicinity of the person by the offender while attempting to run away, and punishes it with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to three years, and also with fine.
