Section 20(3) of the Recovery of Debts and Bankruptcy Act, 1993 requires an appeal against an order of a Debts Recovery Tribunal to be filed within thirty days from the date on which a copy of the order is received by the appellant. The earlier forty-five-day limit was substituted by the Enforcement of Security Interest and Recovery of Debts Laws (Amendment) Act, 2016, with effect from 1 September 2016. The Debts Recovery Appellate Tribunal may entertain an appeal filed after thirty days if sufficient cause for the delay is shown.
