Under the RTI Act, who appoints the State Chief Information Commissioner and State Information Commissioners?

Under Section 15 of the Right to Information Act, the State Chief Information Commissioner and the State Information Commissioners are appointed by the Governor on the recommendation of a committee consisting of the Chief Minister as Chairperson, the Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, and a Cabinet Minister nominated by the Chief Minister. This mirrors the appointment process at the central level. The State Information Commission performs functions analogous to those of the Central Information Commission within the state.
