Question

A concave mirror forms a real, inverted image of an

object placed beyond its focus. What happens if the object is moved closer to the mirror but still beyond the focus?
A Image becomes smaller Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B Image disappears Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C Image becomes larger and remains real Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D Image becomes virtual Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

As the object moves closer toward the focal point (but not inside it), the real image becomes larger.   The image also shifts away from the mirror and stays inverted and real.   This property of concave mirrors is used in projectors and headlights.   Inside focus, the image becomes virtual and upright.
