The Solar Charkha Mission is an initiative of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India. The scheme’s primary objective is to establish solar-powered charkha clusters in rural areas, ensuring both sustainable development and employment generation, especially for women and rural youth. The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) is the nodal agency responsible for implementing this mission. The government initially approved an allocation of ₹550 crore for the years 2018–19 and 2019–20 to set up 50 solar charkha clusters across the country.
