Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah announced this initiative during discussions on the Multi-State Cooperative Societies (Amendment) Bill, 2023. Unlike traditional ride-hailing services, Sahkar empowers drivers as stakeholders rather than mere service providers. The service will register two-wheelers, auto-rickshaws, and four-wheeler cabs across India.
