Question
Rahul saves Rs. 6000 more if he spends 50% of his income instead of 70%. Find the savings of Sumit whose income is 25% more than that of Rahul, and spends 85% of his income.Â
Solution
Let, the income of Rahul be Rs. x According to the question, 0.70x – 0.50x = 6000 Or, 0.20x = 6000 Or, x = 6000/0.20 = Rs. 30000 Savings of Sumit = 0.15 × 1.25 × 30000 = Rs. 5625
