The Great Nicobar Island mega-infrastructure project has an estimated cost of ₹92,000 crore. The National Green Tribunal granted clearance to the project after reviewing environmental and regulatory concerns raised by petitioners. The tribunal concluded that there was no valid ground to interfere with the Environmental Clearance granted earlier, while also directing authorities to strictly comply with all environmental safeguards. The large-scale project represents one of the biggest infrastructure investments planned for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands region.
