Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) Ltd. signed a deal with the National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR) for the construction and delivery of an ocean research vessel (ORV). The deal is valued at ₹840 crore and was signed on July 16. The ORV, which will be capable of conducting Underway Swath Multibeam and Geophysical Seismic surveys in both coastal and deep waters, will also be used for the training and education of scientists and technicians, thereby enhancing research capabilities. The project is expected to be completed within 42 months and is the third order secured by GRSE in the last month.
