    Jishnu Barua has become the new chairman of the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC). Baruah was the Chief Secretary of Assam from October 2020 to August 2022. The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission has been established by the Government of India under the provisions of the Electricity Regulatory Commission Act, of 1998.
