    NEP 2020 states that teaching up to at least Grade 5 (but preferably till Grade 8 and beyond) to be in mother tongue/ regional language. No language will be imposed on any student or state. Also, it recommends that out of current three languages framework, at-least two of the three languages should be native to India.  Further, Sanskrit should be offered as an optional language at all levels of education.
