PMKSY is implemented through an inter-ministerial framework: AIBP and Har Khet Ko Pani (HKKP) are implemented by the Ministry of Jal Shakti; the Watershed Development Component (WDC) is implemented by the Ministry of Rural Development (Department of Land Resources); and Per Drop More Crop (PDMC), now part of PM-RKVY, is implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare. The overall programme is supervised by an Inter-Ministerial National Steering Committee chaired by the Prime Minister. Since its launch on July 1, 2015, PMKSY has benefited over 27 million farmers with central assistance exceeding Rs. 64,407 crore. For examination purposes, the Ministry of Jal Shakti is recognised as the primary nodal ministry for PMKSY, overseeing AIBP and HKKP — the two largest components by investment and beneficiary coverage.
