Question
The average age of 3 brothers is 24 years. If their ages
are in the ratio 5:6:7, what is the age of the eldest brother?Solution
ATQ,
Sum of their ages = 3 × 24 = 72 years
Let the ages of the brothers be ‘5x’, ‘6x’ and ‘7x’ years.
So, 5x + 6x + 7x = 72
So, x = 4
Age of the eldest brother = 7x = 7 × 4 = 28 years
