Question
‘Amit’ is 1.5 times as efficient as ‘Bhuvan’, who
is 1/3 as efficient as ‘Chirag’. If Amit and Chirag together complete a work in 18 days, how long will Bhuvan and Dev take to do it if their efficiency ratio is 2:1 respectively?Solution
ATQ,
Let efficiency of Chirag = 3x units/day
Efficiency of Bhuvan = 3x / 3 = x units/day
Efficiency of Amit = 1.5x units/day
Efficiency of Dev = (x / 2) × 1 = 0.5x units/day
Total work = (Amit + Chirag) × 18 = (1.5x + 3x) × 18 = 81x units
Combined efficiency of Bhuvan and Dev = x + 0.5x = 1.5x units/day
Time = 81x / 1.5x = 54 days
