PMAY-G aims to provide “Housing for All” in rural areas of India. The government plans to construct 4.95 crore houses by March 2029 to ensure every rural family has a pucca house with basic amenities. Important Points: • Scheme Name:PradhanMantriAwaasYojana - Gramin (PMAY-G) • Start Date: April 1, 2016. • Ministry: The Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) • Objective:PMAY-G focuses on providing pucca houses with basic amenities such as water and sanitation to rural poor families. • Target: 4.95 crore houses by 2029 that is 2.95 crore in phase 1(2016-2024)  and additional 2 crore houses in phase2(2024-2029)  • The Union Cabinet has approved the allocation of ₹3,06,137crore for constructing an additional 2 crore houses under PMAY-G, to be implemented from FY 2024-25 to 2028-29. • Under PMAY-G, a total of 3.23 crore houses have been sanctioned for construction.
